Yin Fun Cheung
Meet Helen Cheung, a dedicated physiotherapist trained in Hong Kong and holding a BSc (Hon) in Physiotherapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Helen also possesses a Diploma in Acupuncture from Guangzhou TCM University and incorporates IMS and acupuncture techniques into her treatments.
With a patient-centered approach, Helen ensures personalized care that empowers patients to actively participate in their recovery. She emphasizes open communication and actively involves patients in developing tailored treatment plans to meet their specific goals and needs.
Outside of work, Helen enjoys gardening, finding solace and joy in nurturing plants and watching them flourish. She also finds passion and creative expression through music while enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends to promote overall wellness through nutritious meals.
Helen is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Patrick Leung
Patrick graduated with a Bachelor degree in Physiotherapy from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia in 1992. He worked in various hospitals in BC and attained a broad base of experiences in both acute care and rehabilitation. He later focused on orthopaedics private practice and opened Ackroyd Physiotherapy Centre in 1996.
Patrick holds a post-graduate Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy (2006) and is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapist (FCAMPT). He also pursued his deep interest in acupuncture by completing the Certificate in Medical Acupuncture at University of Alberta (2001) as well as Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) needling in 2008.
Patrick believes that assessing patients as a whole rather than focusing on individual symptoms is vital to having an effective treatment. He utilises soft tissue release, manual/manipulative therapy, needling techniques as well as specific exercise prescription for treatment to achieve an optimal result.
Patrick loves outdoor activities in his free time like hiking, biking as well as kayaking. He also has great interest in how to eat healthy and stay fit.

Cheryl So
Cheryl completed her Master in Science of Physiotherapy at Queen’s University in 2014 and has been working at Ackroyd Physiotherapy Centre since then. Able to communicate in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, her treatments focus on optimizing functional movement patterns and coordination to treat and prevent injuries. Through Acupuncture Canada, she became certified to practice acupuncture in 2015 and is currently, pursuing the Orthopedic and Manual Therapy certification levels.
Although she has a keen interest in shoulder rehabilitation, she also has experience in treating all other areas of the body relating to post-motor vehicle accidents and post-surgical conditioning, as well as work and sport-related injuries. The aspect of physiotherapy that Cheryl enjoys the most is connecting with patients from all walks of life and helping them overcome their injuries in order to return to leading life in ways that are most meaningful and functional to them.
Outside the office, Cheryl enjoys experimenting with food, traveling and staying active through volleyball, badminton, hiking and snowboarding. Born and raised in Vancouver, she loves the nature that we have in the pacific northwest and would love to help you get outdoors too!

Carmen Chung
Carmen graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s physiotherapy program in 1990. In Hong Kong, her physiotherapy experiences were enriched through working in various medical settings including acute care, rehabilitation, and different medical specialties such as orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurological, and pediatric. Before immigrating to Canada, she worked as the head physiotherapist in the orthopedic unit at Prince Margaret Hospital. She immigrated to Canada in 1995 and continued her postgraduate courses – completing the intermediate level of orthopedic division and attending various courses hosted by other experienced physiotherapists. She has been working at Ackroyd Physiotherapy Centre since 1997.
In her spare time, Carmen enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking, travelling and playing badminton.

Susan Mao
Susan grew up in Vancouver and graduated from the University of British Columbia. She has been working at Ackroyd Physiotherapy since 2005. Prior to joining Ackroyd Physiotherapy, Susan worked in various private clinics and hospitals in the lower mainland and also in Pennsylvania, USA. Susan’s main focus is treating orthopedic clients. She completed post-graduate Level 3 orthopedic courses (Orthopedic Division of B.C.). She was also certified to practise acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada since 2003. Besides providing treatment, Susan strongly believes that educating clients is important in achieving an optimal functional outcome. Her goal is helping clients of all ages maintain and achieve an active and healthy lifestyle.
On her spare time, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, travelling, playing badminton, swimming, and volunteering.
